Released on a 12" single, this song, which never made it past the semi-finals of the 2006 Belgian selection process, is available in 3 further versions; Acapella, Dave Lambert vs Elektrokid Dub and Housetrap remixes.

    Sonja Alden - A Miracle (English demo)
The long-awaited full English version of Att alska Dig but it's not Shirley Clamp who recorded this but Sonja Alden, who was part of Laura and the Lovers, who finished last in the 2005 semi-final for Lithuania, and who participated in MF in 2006 (semi-finalist) and 2007 (6th).     Aleksandra Pileva - Sonce i mesecina (Original and Remix)
Aleksandra and Martin Vuvic between them sang all eight songs in the FYR Macedonian final in 2005. It was very close at the end of the day and many felt this runner-up should have gone to Kiev. Here are the Original and Remix versions of this song.

    Chiara - Sail away
Shortlisted for the Maltese final in 2005 but withdrawn as, under the rules, no artist was allowed more than one song. Chiara chose Angel, probably quite wisely. This song came from the team who wrote Belgium's entries in 2002 and 2004. You can download the song in .wma format here.

    Luna - No Pidas Mas Amor (Extended)
6th in the Spanish final of 2001. This would later become a hit in Spain when the singer released it under a different name. Download it here.

    Zdravko Colic - Ne dam ti svoju ljubav
Zdravko performed the Yugoslav entry in 1973 but one year later, this Bosnian-born singer would not get past the semi-final. Download the song here. This, and his poor and undeserved low placing in 1973, would not adversely impact his career in the Balkans. It appears he is still going strong today.

    Johnny Logan - How Does It Feel (Composer version)
Johnny came close to representing the Netherlands in 2005 with this composition which finished second in the final. Download his demo version here.

    Baccara - Soy tu Venus (Dirty Hands anthem remix)
Seventies favourites Baccara represented Luxembourg in 1978 and were invited by SVT to participate in the 2004 Melodifestival with this song, which did not get through its semi-final. Download this remix here.

Joint runner-up in the 1969 Spanish national where Salome sang all the songers along with versions by selected guest singers. Salome, who more than resembled a high class drag queen when she took to the stage in Madrid, recorded this in, at least, 3 versions.     Ben Cramer - Aan Het Noordzeestrand (Alternative version)
De Oude Muzikant was the Dutch entry in 1973.  This is the same song also sung by Ben, but with totally different lyrics. It is about a pirate radio station, which was popular in Holland in the 1960's and early 1970's. (Radio Veronica). Due to a storm the ship drifted ashore and the government could finally stop this pirate station. This song is a protest song and the title of this song is known as Veronica SOS or Aan het Noordzeestrand. Download it here.

How fabulous is it that the 1973 and 1974 Eurovision previews have finally seen the light of day and how good is it to finally see Dani singing (well, mimiing to!) the French entry of 1974? The Spanish entry of 1973 was performed to a different and, in my view, better version than the one with the faded ending released on vinyl. Judge for yourself by downloading it here.

Before the final songs were even selected for the Spanish final in 2001, many were made available on the internet, either in full or as clips. The only one of these to be selected for the final was this song, which was provided in a clip. The song was released on their 2001 album Corazon.     Esther Hart - Wait for the moment
Esther participated in both the UK and Dutch selections in 2003 going on to represent the Netherlands with One more night. She made it through to the last 4 in the BBC Radio 2 semi-final but ultimately withdrew to focus on the Dutch selection. She was replaced by another singer and the song finished in 4th and last place in the Song for Europe final. Not sure if she ever released this but here is the version made available on the BBC website. If anyone has a better version, please get in touch.
