nul points

This page is dedicated to those songs which did not register a single vote in Eurovision! The days of nul points are likely to be few and far between under the new system but some of these are as famous as the winners from the years they competed!

    Switzerland 2004
Pierro & the Musicstars - Celebrate!
To date, the only song to have scored the dreaded nul points under the new system of semi-finals where every single country votes. To add insult to injury, this was only in the semi. Download it here.

    United Kingdom 2003
Jemini - Cry baby
Who'd have ever thought that the UK would ever finish bottom 10, let alone without a single point to it's name, yet bottom 10 is the reality in the new millenium for this country once famed for its succession of second places more than its 5 winners! Download here that song from that famous night in Riga which has probably made this duo from Liverpool more famous than they otherwise would have been.

    Switzerland 1998
Gunvor Guggisberg - Lass 'ihn
Old-fashioned schlager it certainly was but arguably it did not deserve its end result. Judge for yourself by downloading the song here.

    Norway 1997
Tor Endresen - San Francisco
Tor attempted to represent Norway on countless occasions and tried again subsequently but his one and only winner of the Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix was met with a big fat zero. Download it here.

    Portugal 1997
Celia Lawson - Antes do adeus
At least Celia could drown her sorrows with the Norwegian team. This came excatly a year after Portugal's best-ever result. Download the song here.

    Lithuania 1994
Ovidijus Vysniauskas - Lopsine mylimai
Lithuania's first-ever entry did not score a single point and it would be another 4 years before they would show their faces again. Download the song here which, to date, is one of just two songs to have scored nul points on its country's debut.

    Austria 1991
Thomas Forstner - Venedig im Regen
Although he managed a magnificent 5th place in 1989, he could not manage a single vote just 2 years later. Download the song here.

    Iceland 1989
Daniel Agust Haroldsson - Það sem enginn sér
Iceland's 4th ever entry finally managed to finish bottom following a succession of three 16th places. Download the song here.

    Austria 1988
Wilfried - Lisa Mona Lisa
Probably one of the more obvious candidates for nul points, you can download it here.

    Turkey 1987
Seyyal Tanner & Locomotif - Sarkim sevgi üstüne
After finishing in joint first place in the Turkish final of 1986 (see Tie Break) there were no such doubts in the 1987 final. Despite a vigorous performance as camp as a row of tents, there was not a single point on the scoreboard. Download the song here.

    Spain 1983
Remedios Amaya - Quien maneja mi barca?
Probably one of the best of the nul pointers. A few years later and this would never have left the night without a single vote. Download the song here.

    Turkey 1983
Cetin Alp - Opera
And from the same year, one of the ghastliest songs to grace a eurovision stage! Download it here.

    Finland 1982
Kojo - Nuku pomiin
Stood out like a sore thumb on the Harrogate stage. Kojo was dressed head to toe in red leather and could almost have walked onto the wrong show. Judge for yourself here.

    Norway 1981
Finn Kalvik - Aldri i livet
Benny and Bjorn collaborated in the production of this number and both Agnetha and Frida are both on backing vocals, albeit that they were not on the night. It's a gentle song which clearly got lost on the night. Download it here.

    Norway 1978
Jahn Teigen - Mil etter mil
Probably the most famous nul pointer of all and the first one under the current voting system introduced in 1975. Download the song here.

    Luxembourg 1970
David Alexandre Winter - Je suis a tombe du ciel
And now to the time when each country only had a total of 10 votes to allocate amongst all of the songs with each juror simply voting for their favourite song. There were only 12 songs in the 1970 contest and the top 2 shared almost half the votes! Download the song here.

    Switzerland 1967
Geraldine - Quel coeur vas-tu briser¿
This song was first submitted for the French selection the year before. It somehow made its way to the Swiss selection the following year and this song is probably most infamous for its bum high note towards the end of the night. Download it here.

    Monaco 1966
Teresa - Bien plus fort
Croatian singer Teresa had a career in France and was selected to represented the principality in 1966. She would return for Yugoslavia 6 years later and finish in a far more creditable 9th place. Download her 1966 song here.

    Italy 1966
Domenico Modugno - Dio, come ti amo

Domenico competed in 1958 with probably one of Eurovision's most famous songs, Volare, which incredibly only finished 3rd. He would finish 6th a year later but what a shock that his 1966 Sanremo winner scored nothing at all. Had they sent Gigliola Cinquetti's vastly superior version, I suspect it could have been a different story. Download the song here.

    Belgium 1965
Lize Marke - Als het weer lente is
And now to a period when votes were restricted to the top 3 songs, leaving 4 songs in 1965 scoring nul points. Download Lize's song here.

    Finland 1965
Viktor Klimenko - Aurinko laskee länteen
The experts over-ruled the original choice to represent Finland (see No No Never) and Russian-born Viktor did not score a single point. Download the song here.

    Germany 1965
Ulla Wiesner - Paradies, wo bist Du¿
And another from 1965. Download the song here.

    Spain 1965
Conchita Bautista - Que bueno, que bueno
And another which you can download here. Conchita sang Spain's first-ever eurovision song in 1961 finishing 9th.

    Germany 1964
Nora Nova - Man gewöhnt sich so schnell an das Schöne
And 1964 saw another 4 countries on nul points. Download the song which must have one of the longest titles ever here.

    Portugal 1964
António Calvário - Oracão
Portugal's first-ever entry did not register a point on the scoreboard. Download it here.

    Switzerland 1964
Anita Traversi - I miei pensieri
Anita first represented Switzerland in 1960, finishing in 8th place but her 1964 attempt did not fare so well. Download it here.

    Yugoslavia 1964
Sabahudin Kurt - Zivot je sklopio krug
Bosnia Herzogovina won through in the Yugoslav selection in 1964. You can download the song here.

    Finland 1963
Laila Halme - Muistojeni laulu
And 4 countries finished at the bottom of the pile without a point in 1963. Whilst Denmark won, none of the other Scandinavian songs scored a single point. Marjatta Leppänen and Irmeli Mäkelä each sang the song in the Finnish final, yet it was offered to 3rd place Laila to sing the song in London. Does anyone know why? Download the song here.

    Netherlands 1963
Annie Palmen - Speeldoos
And another from 1963, download it here.

    Norway 1963
Anita Thallaug - Solhverv
Anita never recorded this song so it's a live version that you can download here.

    Sweden 1963
Monica Zetterlund - En gang i Stockholm
Classic eurovision entry from Sweden. How did this finish without a single point? Download the song here.

    Austria 1962
Eleonore Schwarz - Nur in der Wiener Luft
Some operatic overtones failed to help this Austrian song from 1962. Again, one of four songs to score nul points that year. You can download the song here.

    Belgium 1962
Fud Leclerc - Ton nom
The last of four songs Fud would sing for Belgium and the lowest placed of all of them. He also particiapted in 1956, 1958 and 1960. You can download his 1962 song here.

    Netherlands 1962
De Spelbrekers - Katinka
Download this Dutch song here which, despite its poor placing, is probably one of their better known songs back home.

    Spain 1962
Victor Balaguer - Llamame
And the final one in the Spanish song which you can download here. 1962 was the first year that any song failed to score a single point, so this is the last in the collection.
