The Spanish Project
Spain have competed in the Eurovision Song Contest since 1961. In 1961, 1962, 1964, 1965, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1976, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005, televised pre-selections were screened but in all other years the selection was made internally. In 2006, much was made about the final four candidates being Las Ketchup, Azucar Moreno, Chenoa and David Civera, however, subsequently, the information about Chenoa and David Civera was not confirmed as accurate. It did, however, emerge that Azucar Moreno had submitted a song called "Clįvame."
The televised pre-selections are well-documented and therefore not part of this project. You can find details on both of this excellent website:

If you have any information, then please contact me on singaporesteve@hotmail.comhttp://www.eurovisionsongs.net/spanishsongs.htmMy thanks to Josep who has been scouting around to fill some of the gaps. It is, however, difficult to get much of this formally confirmed, although one member of Mocedades did confirm details of the songs they put forward to the internal selections in 1972 and 1973. Another piece of information, or possibly misinformation, is that the fabulous "Hijo De La Luna" performed by Mecano was put forward as a contender in either 1984 or 1986. The theory about 1986 has since been disproved as the song had been released earlier. If this was put forward for eurovision, this must have been one of the biggest errors made ever in eurovision!
